ABOUT ACUITY

Every growth story starts with people.

Products evolve, strategies change and markets shift,  but what ultimately stays constant is the impact exceptional people have on your business. Acuity Consultants South Africa helps ambitious businesses solve leadership, capability and growth challenges by finding the people capable of moving them forward.

HOW WE THINK

We start with what you're solving for.

Most firms in this space lead with what they do, their networks, their reach, their process. We think that’s the wrong place to start.

The decision and challenge in front of you is about a deadline, a transformation, a leadership seat you can’t risk getting wrong. That’s where we start: the real business problem in front of you and what getting it wrong would cost you.

We’re not here to fill a role. We’re here to be the growth partner that helps you move with confidence at every stage of your business’s journey.

WHERE WE HELP`

One partner,
every stage of growth.

Whatever you’re solving for, the question usually falls into one of four places.

Acuity Consultants South Africa is built to answer all four

ADVISORY & MARKET INTELLIGENCE

Are we planning with the full picture of the market?

An ongoing partnership with people who know your market: what roles are worth, who’s available, and what it takes to win them. We help you shape the plan, then deliver against it where you want us to.

EXECUTIVE & LEADERSHIP SEARCH

Who can lead us where we need to
go next?

We introduce you to leaders most businesses will never get the chance to meet, the people who sit beyond the visible market.

CONTRACTING & PAYROLL SERVICES

How do we get more capability quickly, without impacting progress?

We strengthen your delivery teams with specialist expertise who can contribute from day one, without slowing you down.

PERMANENT HIRES

Who should we back to build the future of the business?

We help you build high-performing teams that define what’s next for your business. We build teams designed to last, so you can scale with confidence.

THE DISCIPLINES WE KNOW

We work where capability is hardest to find.

We work in technology, financial services, consulting and digital transformation.

In the disciplines that tend to decide things: from software engineering, cloud and data, AI, project and change delivery, to business analysis and cybersecurity. Our focus is deep rather than broad.

We’re selective about the work we take on, and the organisations we partner with tend to stay.

MEET THE TEAM

Exceptional people, finding exceptional people.

Great businesses are built by exceptional people, and so are great partners. We hold ourselves to what our clients ask of us: deep market knowledge, real conviction about people, and the judgement to tell good from exceptional.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions we're often asked.

We came from the world of recruitment, but it isn’t how we think about the work. Most firms in this space lead with what they do their reach, their network and their process.

We start somewhere else: the problem in front of you and the cost of getting it wrong. We’re not here to fill a role. We’re here to be the growth and capability partner that helps you build the business you’re aiming for.

Since 2009. Our team brings over 50 years of combined experience across technology, financial services and digital businesses, and we’ve partnered with organisations from early-stage startups to some of the most recognised brands in the market.

Yes. Acuity is a Level 2 B-BBEE contributor.

Technology, financial services, consulting and digital transformation, and within them, the disciplines that tend to decide things: software engineering, cloud and data, AI, project and change delivery, business analysis and cybersecurity. Our focus is deep rather than broad, which is how we tell the difference between someone who’s good and someone who’s genuinely exceptional.

Both. We partner with startups, scale-ups, enterprises and global brands. What matters isn’t the size of the business  it’s whether the hire is one you can’t afford to get wrong.

Yes. For contractors, whether we introduced them or you sourced them yourself, we can manage PAYE processing, payslips and compliant, auditable payroll, so the administration doesn’t land on your team.

Did I ever think I’d be running a recruitment company? Answer, NO! I started life washing dishes in Spain, selling water coolers in the UK and even had a stint as a terrible five a side football player (2 matches) which resulted in a broken arm after accidentally tackling my own teammate! I quickly acknowledged that I wasn’t suitable for any of the above and pushed forward with a career in IT before later returning to South Africa with my family in 2010. It’s important for me to use the word “returning” in this bio as it doesn’t matter how many times I tell my friends I was born in South Africa, I am still accused of being a walking, talking Pom! Hilarious and totally untrue, I think…

Fast forward to today and I am proud to be the CEO of Acuity. It’s been a tremendous journey – not only do I have a fantastic team at work, I am exceptionally lucky to have an amazing team at home also. My wife is unquestionably the brightest and kindest person I know, and I am a very proud father of two amazing/demanding kids. Between a full-on work and home life, I enjoy all things outdoors and can be found regularly pounding the tar running or cycling, in preparation for the next competition in SA or overseas. I am at my happiest when I cross the finish line and can celebrate with an ice-cold beer!

I’ve spent my career at the intersection of people, performance, and possibility helping companies secure exceptional talent in some of the most competitive tech markets in the world.

As Growth Director and Managing Partner at Acuity Consultants, I work with organisations across South Africa and internationally to build high-impact digital and technology teams. Our focus is simple: connect genuinely outstanding people with businesses where they can do the best work of their careers. No fluff, no CV-flinging just thoughtful, strategic recruitment done properly.

My perspective on hiring has been shaped by working across South Africa, the UK, Europe, and the US. That experience taught me how critical great talent is to business success – and how rare it is to get hiring decisions truly right.

Before recruitment, I spent more than a decade as a Chartered Physiotherapist in the UK, including serving as Clinical Director at The Harley Street Back Clinic in London. It may seem an unusual route into tech recruitment, but it gave me something invaluable: a deeply people-centric approach, strong diagnostic instincts, and an appreciation for the difference between surface fit and genuine long-term alignment.

I still approach hiring the same way I approached clinical work with curiosity, honesty, and a focus on outcomes. Titles and CVs are easy. Understanding motivations, potential, and cultural fit takes more work – and that’s where the real value lies.

I’m particularly interested in how the world of work is changing: the evolution of tech talent, the realities of the graduate market, hiring economics, and the sometimes uncomfortable truths about recruitment and employability. I share candid views on these topics regularly and enjoy conversations that challenge conventional thinking.

At heart, I’m a builder of relationships, a realist about the labour market, and someone who believes that great hiring decisions change the trajectory of both businesses and lives.

If you’re building a serious tech team, or thinking about your next meaningful move, I’m always open to a thoughtful conversation.

After graduating from Stellenbosch University with a BA in Political Science and Philosophy, I was faced with the pivotal decision that every graduate faces: what path to pursue next. With a passion for people, networking, and the commercial world, recruitment became the perfect fit. Joining Acuity Consultants allowed me to combine all of my strengths—relationship-building, problem-solving, and strategic thinking—into a rewarding career.

Specializing in IT recruitment, my focus is on connecting clients with exceptional talent in Engineering, Analytics, and Product roles. By leveraging both personal and company networks, the goal is to help organizations navigate evolving market trends, ensuring their recruitment strategies are not just effective but also aligned with their long-term business goals.

At the heart of my approach is the facilitation of introductions that lead to meaningful, long-term relationships—strategic investments in human capital that drive lasting impact. Through strategic consulting, I partner with clients to refine their hiring processes, enabling them to make data-driven decisions that keep them competitive in a dynamic market.

I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the brightest minds in the industry and look forward to continuing to do so.

As a Journalism, Media Studies, Economics, & Enterprise Management graduate, I could never quite figure out where my passions lay. All I knew was that I was obsessed with processes. I loved running small businesses, but more so I loved to learn about the world of business.

While studying at Rhodes University, I founded my own small photography recruitment agency in Makhanda, Eastern Cape! Because of this, when the opportunity to join Acuity arose, I just knew this was my calling.

I believe loyalty and commitment are some of the most important values in life and I try to mirror these in all aspects of life.

As a Psychology and Sociology graduate, I’ve always been fascinated by people—what drives them, how they think, and what helps them thrive. My career has taken me through various roles, but one thing has remained constant: my passion for understanding and connecting with others.

Whether in recruitment or other fields, I’ve found my greatest fulfilment in helping people reach their full potential. I believe in building strong, lasting relationships—both personally and professionally—and I bring that same commitment and enthusiasm to everything

It’s hard to believe that I joined Acuity more than a decade ago, but, as they say, time flies when you’re having fun!

Before joining Acuity, I developed my operational skills while working in vendor-based prepaid and retail payment services, as well as in logistics involving international imports. These experiences gave me a strong foundation in the operational side of business, which I continue to build on in my role at Acuity.

I’m happiest quietly getting on with things in my office, yet I also thrive on the energy and buzzing atmosphere my colleagues bring to the workplace. It’s a large part of what makes Acuity such a special place to work.

Before the whirlwind adventure of becoming a mom to twins in 2020, I got my kicks from sprint-distance triathlons, long-distance road cycling events and surfing. I look forward to getting back into the proverbial (and hopefully literal) saddle, especially as Cape Town is the perfect place for all these adventures.

Marketing Director

Dominique Robertson

My career has taken me from launching global technology brands in London, New York and San Francisco to shaping digital products and experiences across fintech and retail.

In the last 20 years I’ve been lucky enough to work with a multitude of brands including eBay, Mozilla, Checkers, Uber, PnP, Sanlam Sony and so many more. The thread running through all of it has stayed pretty consistent: taking something complex, finding the story at the heart of it, and turning it into something people can understand, connect with and act on.

Today, I lead Marketing at Acuity Consultants, where I’m helping shape the next chapter of the business in a time where thanks to technology how we work has changed.
