This is a superb opportunity for an experienced FMCG/RETAIL CATEGORY MANAGER (RETAIL CONSULTANT) – to lead the CATEGORY MANAGEMENT CONSULTING PRACTICE of a Global INSIGHT & ANALYTICS LEADER, a CUSTOMER-SCIENCE Consultancy driving Consumer-Centric strategy and working with the world’s most successful Retailers.

Based in CAPE TOWN this RETAIL CONSULTANT / CATEGORY MANAGEMENT LEAD role offers a salary of circa R1.5M/annum.

This Global DATA INSIGHT ANALYTICS DATA SCIENCE COMPANY is the world leader driving Customer-driven strategy for top Retailers and FMCG’s. This established business has led the way on utilising data to deeply understand human behaviour and thereby enables Retailers and FMCG’s to understand and adopt customer-centric business practice informed through data.

This is a very rare and Senior Level role for a CATEGORY MANAGEMENT/RETAIL CONSULTANT – to take Africa’s largest grocery retailer on a customer centric journey, delivering shopper insights, that when actioned in-store, lead to an improved shopping environment and significant growth. In this role you will build success in positively influencing the shopping experience for the largest Retailer.
The position involves advanced Category Management capability including category management strategy development, category assortment and layout optimisation allowing for better strategic and tactical decisions concerning product assortment and merchandising. This role combines experience in Category leadership framework and the Category Review process with expertise to deliver category growth for Retailers, and to develop the expertise of Category Management team members in South Africa.

Experience gained in either a Consultancy Firm, Retailer or FMCG.
Experience in category management approaches in both retail and/or manufacturer contexts.
Experience of working with retailers and manufacturers in embedding customer insight in existing category management processes.
Experience of delivering business value through customer insights, customer knowledge and customer focused business change.
Business and Commercial Acumen.
Change Management.
Project Management.
Data Analysis and Modelling.
